July's Challenge - Week 4: PeopleUpdate: Week 4 is here! You have until Friday to get your sketches in. Anyone can join in, even if you missed the first week. Huge shoutout to 42Ly, Dahkur, and LadyKylin for completing week 3.Hi folks! It's July, and this month's challenge is going to be a fun one. This month, you are all tasked with doing some life studies! By the time this month is out, you'll be art-ing like nobody's business. Let's start this first week with something that's both incredibly common in art...and terribly intimidating. Hands! What you will need:Pen/Pencil and Paper. This challenge should be done traditionally (not digitally). You don't need fancy pens or paper, either. Use a napkin, if you want! A watch to time yourself. You can use a stopwatch on your phone if have one, or any number of free stopwatches on the internet. Or even just a regular watch or clock.
Asexuality: A Mental Disorder?I wrote this in my journal a yesterday and thought some of this community might appreciate it:I was "stuck" at the library for a half hour today and couldn't find any Kate Bornstein or Kevin Guilfoile, so I decided to analyze the DSM-5, which was not in the reference section and took a good 10 minutes to find.Pica's interesting, so I turned to the feeding/eating disorders section, avoiding Anorexia Nervosa, and read about that. I had a few minutes, so I then turned to a random page. I noticed "sexual disorders" at the top of the left hand page, and was about to switch out of that (I'm asexual, so I don't really want to read about people's mental concerns with ejaculation) when I saw that the right hand page was headed with "Male Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder" (302.71) Weird, I thought, because that kind of implies that having a lack of sexual interest means you're disordered. Intrigued, I read for a bit. Increasingly appalling. Hold on a minute while I side-track to females.I fo
Life lessons from the bibleAh, the bible. That one book we read to little kids to teach them its morals and tolerance of a most loving and forgiving God."When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies." Deuteronomy 20:10-14"If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her." Deuteronomy 22:28-29
Memes from my real lifeGot bored, made MEMEs based off my life experience on MemeGenerator.netHere they are! Haha, more school-frustration memes than anything for the moment. Followed by random things about me, weird people I met, and two of my unpopular opinions. It’s scary how much that one old lady actually looks like my principal, holy shit! Though I did mix some of her nonsense up with the regular teacher meme too.

Don't stand for itThis isn't a happy journal, so if you don't want to hear moderate whining, please don't read.I am going to try and make this as factual as possible, even though my patience ran out a long time ago with regard to this particular issue.I'm not asking for sympathy or mobs or whatever, I'm trying to stop this happening to someone elseWhat prompted this journalLast June, I commissioned an artist on dA for three pictures that were intended as gifts. Since then, my experience with this particular "artist" has seriously soured my view on commissions.Thankfully, all other commission experiences on here have been great, but this single one, has now made me realise that we, as buyers, need to be smart, and know our rights. Remember to protect yourself against fraud.I see so many advice journals about "knowing your rights as an artist", but what about the buyer? We don't deserve to be treated like shit just because the artist has work that m
